One person has died following a three-vehicle collision on Interstate 77 near mile marker 66 in Chester County Sunday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Troopers said around 2 a.m. a Nissan Altima was traveling south on I-77 when it was struck from behind by a Jeep Cherokee. The Nissan was then struck a second time by a BMW while in the roadway. The driver of the Nissan was injured in the crash and transported to an area hospital. A passenger in the Nissan was pronounced deceased at the scene. Their identity is unknown at this time. The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. It is unknown if the occupants in the BMW were hurt. Highway Patrol said they are investigating the cause of the collision.
