Rock Hill City Council last evening voted to rescind their face covering ordinance, that was put in place to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. City Attorney Paul Dillingham said when Governor Henry McMaster loosened state face covering restrictions; their City ordinance no longer was sustainable. City Councilwoman Nikita Jackson voted against rescinding the ordinance. She said on a state level, York County still has a high number of Coronavirus cases. Councilman Derrick Lindsey was the only other ‘no’ vote. Following the vote Council approved a resolution strongly encouraging people to wear face masks. Businesses and restaurants can still maintain their own face covering policies.
