Lancaster man: Weekend arrest with kids in trunk blown out of proportion
A Lancaster man says the basis of his arrest is being blown out of proportion.
On Saturday during the Lancaster Christmas parade, William Benton was arrested for driving a car with stolen tags.
That’s when officers discovered four children all under the age of 11 in the trunk.
Benton claims a relative upset with him reported the tags stolen when he had just borrowed it from another vehicle. For the kids in the trunk, police say they were in there just for “transport purposes.”
Benton said there was no foul play, just poor judgment.

Do I understand this? This guy see’s himself as just misunderstood?
You can’t “borrow” plates from one vehicle and just put them on another, even if you own both vehicles yourself and the plates are current for one of them.
