ROCK HILL — With the cold weather finally hitting the Carolinas, local warming centers are opening up for the winter months.

Rock Hill’s Salvation Army has opened it’s shelter — almost a month earlier than this time last year. Salvation Army Major John Edmonds.

Edmonds says that several permanent shelters are already full — and are turning people away.

Rock Hill’s Salvation Army is on Charlotte Avenue at the Dave Lyle overpass  — and is only open to women and children.

A men’s shelter opens at the end of this month at Bethel United Methodist Church.
