SC-DHEC announces 1,741 new cases of COVID-19, a new single-day state record

Coronavirus cases continue to rise in South Carolina. The state once again set it’s record for a single-day increase in cases with 1,741 on Tuesday.

47 of those were in York County, 29 were in Lancaster County and 12 were in Chester County. 9,174 people were tested for the virus on Monday and 19% tested positive.

SC-DHEC also announced 17 additional confirmed deaths and 2 probable deaths. The death total is now 735.

The newly reported recovery rate is 84%. That means that of the 36,297 people who have had the virus, there are 5,690 active cases, 29,872 people have recovered and 735 have died. The death rate remains at 2.0%.

1,021 hospital beds are occupied by patients who have either tested positive or are under investigation for COVID-19. The state is at a 71.52% hotel bed occupancy rate.
