COVID-19 cases in South Carolina pass 12,000, deaths total 500

297 new cases of COVID-19 and 6 additional deaths were announced by SC-DHEC on Monday, bringing the totals to 12,148 cases and 500 deaths.

10 of the newly reported cases are from York County, 5 are from Lancaster County and 3 are from Chester County. York County now has 407 cases, Lancaster County has 135 and Chester County has 80. 3,845 people were tested for the virus on Sunday and 7.7% tested positive. The recovery rate remains at 85%.

Each of the deaths took place in elderly individuals. They were from Colleton (2), Fairfield (2), Horry (1), and Lexington (1) counties.
