York Co. Deputy fired for ‘conduct unbecoming of an officer’

In a press release yesterday it was announced that Deputy Christopher Gage has been fired from the York County Sheriff’s Office for engaging in conduct unbecoming of an officer.

Back in January the Sheriff’s Office received allegations that Gage took part in such conduct.  Internal Affairs investigators spoke with the complainant and learned that Mr. Gage had likely partaken in criminal activity.

SLED then was contacted and took over the investigation.  On January 10th Sheriff Kevin Tolson made the decision to fire Gage due to the seriousness and credibility of the allegations made against him.

These allegations included Mr. Gage participating in an extramarital affair, providing money in exchange for sexual favors, and abstaining from serving an outstanding arrest warrant.

Upon the conclusion of the SLED investigation, one warrant for misconduct in office was obtained for Mr. Gage.  He was taken into custody on that warrant by SLED agents yesterday.

The Sixteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office will prosecute the charge against Gage.
