Every organization needs
a versatile individual that can easily morph from one task to another. At
WRHI-WRHM-WVSZ, that person is Mario Washington. Mario is the program
director for Our Three Sons Broadcasting. Washington also provides some play-by-play and
color commentary during high school football and basketball broadcasts and
is the station news correspondent to the York County Council and the Rock
Hill School Board. Washington also hosts a one-hour Saturday morning
show, "What's Happening", from 11 am -12 noon, that deals with the
political, cultural, social and current issues important to Generation Y.
Mario first fostered his
love of radio as a disc jockey at Winthrop University's WINR in 1998. A
2002 graduate of Winthrop, Washington also won awards for his hip-hop show
on WINR and as a columnist for the Roddey McMillan Record, Winthrop's
multicultural newspaper.
A native of Fairfax, SC,
Washington enjoys playing basketball, a sport in which he was a point
guard in high school.
