Jerry Petersons booming voice has echoed
weather information across major radio and television markets all over the country since
1956. He is an American Meteorological Society certified meteorologist and provides 24-hour weather information for WRHI and
its sister station, WRHM FM 107. Peterson plays a crucial part on The Morning
Show, honored in 2005 by the South Carolina Broadcaster's Association as the
"Radio Program of the Year."
Jerry is quite a handyman. He completely renovated an
historic downtown home here in Rock Hill with his wife, Melba and son, Scott, which they now
operate as the citys leading bed and breakfast. He originally became interested in
broadcasting through Junior Achievement in junior high school and throughout his career
has probably talked to over a million elementary school students about weather and
broadcasting.
Jerry is a firm believer that radio has three enduring
missions: Educate, entertain and inform. Radio is something that Jerry cant seem to
get enough
of in spite of his semi-retirement several years ago.
"Its in your blood. Its something that
lives with you forever," said Jerry.
"Every time you turn on a radio, it draws
you back in."
