Jerry Peterson
Jerry Peterson’s booming voice has echoed weather information across major Radio and television markets all over the country since 1956. His many TV stays have included Houston, Tampa Bay, and super station WGN in Chicago. Local viewers remember his bright vests and engaging personality as WSOC-TV weatherman during the 1980s. Jerry has been behind the microphone at WRHI and Interstate 107 since 1990. He is an American Meteorological Society certified meteorologist and provides 24-hour weather information for WRHI and Interstate 107. Peterson plays a crucial part on The Morning Show, honored in 2005 by the South Carolina Broadcaster's Association as the "Radio Program of the Year."
Jerry is quite a handyman. He completely renovated a historic downtown home in Rock Hill with his wife, Melba and son, Scott, which they now operate as the city’s leading bed and breakfast. He originally became interested in broadcasting through Junior Achievement in junior high school and throughout his career has probably talked to over a million elementary school students about weather and broadcasting.
Jerry is a firm believer that Radio has three enduring missions: Educate, entertain and inform. Radio is something that Jerry can’t seem to get enough of in spite of his semi-retirement several years ago.
"It’s in your blood. It’s something that lives with you forever," said Jerry. "Every time you turn on a Radio, it draws you back in."
