The post office was shut down for nearly four hours when seven employees became ill following exposure to the pepper spray. More » The Governor’s ethics case has been settled. Governor Mark Sanford signed a consent order to pay $74,000 to resolve charges that his travel and campaign spending violated state ethics laws. He also agreed to pay more than $36,000 in reimbursements. Under the agreement approved by the Ethics Commission, Sanford does not admit guilt but also does not contest the charges.
