Sumter post office closes when pepper spray released

Yesterday’s disruption at Sumter’s Main Street U.S. Post Office was caused by an accidental release of pepper spray. The post office was shut down for nearly four hours when seven employees became ill following exposure to the pepper spray.  More »

Sanford agrees to Ethics Commission payment order (Audio)

The Governor’s ethics case has been settled. Governor Mark Sanford signed a consent order to pay $74,000 to resolve charges that his travel and campaign spending violated state ethics laws. He also agreed to pay more than $36,000 in reimbursements. Under the agreement approved by the Ethics Commission, Sanford does not admit guilt but also does not contest the charges. Ethics Commission Director Herb Hayden says that there will be no hearing since Sanford signed the agreement. More »
