Sheila Caldwell

Sheila Caldwell is the “bright and cheerful” female voice heard every morning on WRHI’s Palmetto Mornings. She first acquired experience in broadcasting in high school when a radio station executive overheard her speaking at an event and encouraged her to pursue a Radio career.

If you count the years Sheila sang as a child with her mother on a local Radio broadcast, you could easily add another decade to her years “in the business.” From the age of six, Sheila dreamed of working in broadcasting. Her parents gave her a reel-to-reel machine at age 10 and she “produced” Radio programs for classmates.  By age 17, she was a voice-over artist and news reporter after school.  During this time, she received an AP News Award for a Community Service broadcast, the youngest to receive this recognition to date in Alabama.

Over the last three decades, Sheila continued to work in various media fields including Radio, Television and Internet.  She is an award-winning writer and producer having gleaned six Addy (advertising awards) and an Angel Award for a short-form Television documentary that was syndicated in several countries.

In addition to her co-hosting duties on Palmetto Mornings, Sheila also coordinates promotions and special events for WRHI/Interstate 107. As a free-lancer she is a professional voice actor, writer and producer of the Divas Through the Decades series. A member of the Rock Hill community since 1994, she considers Rock Hill home and is involved in several community events including Come-See-Me and ChristmasVille. She is married to Bill Caldwell and together they have five children, eight grandchildren and two dogs.
