Robert Earl Carter is a Sales Executive. He is no stranger the OTS Media family of stations, having worked as a football play-by-play announcer for the past 12 seasons covering Lancaster, Clover, York, and now Fort Mill high school. Growing up in the area, he graduated from Chester High School where he played Tight End for the Cyclones.
Nine years of working odd shifts in the manufacturing sector (and a push from his girlfriend, now wife) prompted him to take advantage of one of York County’s greatest resources, York Technical College, where he graduated with an Associate Degree in Business.
Robert Earl has worked in retail management and in fast-food restaurant operations. He most recently was the office manager for the former local McDonald’s franchisee, Man-Dan Management Co. During his time there, he was actively involved with local marketing strategies, which led to a long partnership with OTS Media. Having worked on the business owner’s end he understands your needs, therefore, he believes in local businesses working with radio as a viable and important means of advertising.
When Man-Dan sold their restaurants in January 2012, Robert Earl began searching for a new career that would bring all of his work experiences together in one place, and he believes he has found that with OTS Media. His knowledge of the area, its people, and its businesses, together with his experience from business owner’s side of the media advertising equation will help get your company to the top of the heap — and keep it there!
Robert Earl has always loved radio, especially sports radio, spending many nights as a kid surfing up and down the AM dial listening to baseball games from Atlanta, New York, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh. That love of listening to the play-by-play calls led him to try his hand at broadcasting. He worked for three years (1987-1990) at WGCD in Chester doing stats, color, and play-by-play for Chester, Lewisville, and Great Falls high schools, and for 2 seasons he was behind the microphone hosting Friday night doubleheaders for the Chester Dixie Youth Baseball League. In the fall of 2001, OTS managing partner Allan Miller crossed paths with Robert Earl during a sales call and found out, by chance, about his radio experience. Allan had a need for a color commentator for a few Lancaster games that season and thus began his association with OTS Media.
Robert Earl has been very involved with his church, Calvary Baptist, in Chester for many years. He also served for several years as a volunteer youth football & baseball coach in Chester and Fort Mill/Tega Cay.
