York County sees 78 new COVID-19 cases, SC-DHEC announces 1,265

York County tied it’s highest single day increase in coronavirus cases, during the month of August with 78 this afternoon. SC-DHEC announced 1,265 new cases of the virus. Chester and Lancaster Counties both had 19 new cases. The percent positive dropped slightly from Thursday to 18.3%.

22 additional confirmed deaths were also announced. Two of the deaths date back to July 22nd with the rest coming in August.

The recovery rate from the coronavirus dropped from 90% to 89%. This means of the 97,554 total cases, 85,147 people have recovered, there are 10,523 active cases and there have been. 1,883 total deaths The death rate is 1.93%.
