The recovery rate for the coronavirus in South Carolina rose from 89% to 90% on Tuesday as SC-DHEC announced 1,168 new cases. That means of the 93,604 total cases since the pandemic began there are roughly 9,183 active cases, 82,647 people have recovered and 1,774 people have died.
65 of the cases were from York County, 14 were from Lancaster County and 6 were from Chester County. 6,389 people were tested for the virus on Monday and 18.3% tested positive.
52 additional confirmed deaths were also announced. One of the deaths dates back to July 24th. They include a middle-aged Chester Co. individual and an elderly Lancaster Co. individual. The death rate is 1.89%.
