Coronavirus cases remain high in South Carolina. 1,723 new cases were reported Thursday afternoon. 66 of those were from York County, 13 were from Lancaster County and 6 were from Chester County. 8,350 people were tested for the virus on Wednesday and 20.6% tested positive.
22 additional deaths were also confirmed, bringing the death total to 898. 19 were in elderly individuals and 3 were in middle-aged individuals.
1,433 hospital beds are occupied by patients who have either tested positive or are under investigation for COVID-19. The recovery rate remains at 89% and the death rate is 1.8%.
