North Carolina Labor Commissioner Cherrie Berry said that Carowinds intends to open on July 27th. The Fort Mill, SC based theme park sits on the state line between North Carolina and South Carolina. As noted on WRHI last week, Carowinds’ Vice President of Operations Jerry Helms, said that the theme park is good to go in South Carolina, but still was waiting for direction from North Carolina.
Carowinds has not commented on a re-opening date and the intended date was only released after Berry questioned if Governor Roy Cooper was going to allow the theme park to open on July 27th. Cooper responded that it was too early to predict whether that could occur. This discussion happened during a Council of State meeting on Tuesday.
