SC-DHEC announced 17 COVID-19 related deaths on Wednesday, including 2 in York County and 1 in Lancaster County. All 3 occurred in elderly individuals. This brings York County’s death total to 8 and Lancaster County’s total to 6. 15 of the state deaths were in elderly individuals and 2 were in middle-aged individuals. The state’s death total is 518.
235 new cases were announced by SC-DHEC, bringing the state total to 12,651. 3 of those cases were in York County, 15 were in Lancaster County and 5 were in Chester County. York County has a total of 426 cases, Lancaster has 180 and Chester has 93. The recovery rate remains at 85%.
As restrictions are reduced by reopenings and people return to their workplaces and participate in recreational activities, SC-DHEC continues to urge everyone to be vigilant in practicing social distancing and wearing masks to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
