A man accused of shooting a state trooper in Rock Hill last week is out of the hospital and has been charged. Police say 27 year old Willie Wright didn’t stop when a trooper tried to pull him over.

They say he sped off and crashed, and then ran over to the trooper’s car and shot him in the chest. Trooper Paul Wise was wearing his bullet proof vests. Both men were taken to the hospital. Wise is recovering at home.

Wright is charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
