Winthrop tennis player wins Big South Female Student-Athlete of the year
It was announced yesterday afternoon that Winthrop junior tennis player Lauren Proctor has been voted the Big South Conference Female Student-Athlete of the Year for the 2017-18 season by the league’s Athletics Directors.
Proctor is the first tennis player ever to win the conference’s Female Student-Athlete of the Year award, as well as the second consecutive Winthrop student-athlete to receive the honor.
She received 97 points and 12 first-place votes. Winthrop track and field athlete Marthaline Cooper won the award last year.
