1 York County Deputy is in critical condition after being shot early yesterday morning. 3 members of the York County Sheriff’s Department and 1 member of the York Police department were called to a domestic violence report in York late Monday.

Sargeants Randy Clinton,  Buddy Brown, Kyle Cummings and Detective Mike Doty responded to the domestic violence call at 10:10 Monday evening.

Trent Faris with the York County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect, 47-year-old Christian Thomas McCall, was assaulting a woman in the home, but when deputies arrived he had taken off.

A few hours later, just after 1 a.m., a K-9 unit was tracking McCall nearby, close to Paraham Road, when Faris said the suspect shot that officer. He was placed in a patrol car by another deputy and rushed to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Deputies immediately began searching for McCall and around 3:30 a.m., officers were fired upon again, Faris said. Three more law enforcement officers — two deputies and a York police officer — were shot.

Two of them were flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte while the third was taken to CMC by ambulance.  Tolson said 3 of the officers are recovering while Doty is in critical condition.

County Solicitor Kevin Brackett said he has advised SLED to take action against the suspect.

Brackett advised them to hold off pending the outcome of Doty’s injuries and surgery.
