ROCK HILL, SC—Xavier Cooks has been named the Big South Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Cooks averaged 17.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals to help lead the Eagles to a 2-0 week that included a road win at Furman. Cooks capped the week off with his first career triple-double, posting 11 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists against Reinhardt.
The week began with a 24-point performance in the win at Furman as Cooks was 11-for-17 from the floor. It was his second 20-point game of the season. He finished with two blocks at Furman and became the program’s all-time leader in blocks with 166. Cooks has also moved up the scoring list and is now just 14 points out of 8th and 17 points out of 7th all-time.
This is the first weekly honor of the season for Cooks and third time in his career he’s been tabbed the conference’s player of the week.
