Winthrop Volleyball Falls To Campbell 3-0

BUIES CREEK, NC – The Winthrop Volleyball team was blanked by Campbell 3-0 on Tuesday at the Gore Arena.

Score: Winthrop 0, Campbell 3 (19-25, 22-25, 18-25)
Records: Winthrop 12-8 (3-3 BSC), Campbell 13-8 (3-4, BSC)

EAGLES HIGHLIGHTS

  • Junior Carlie Skelton led the Eagles with 23 digs
  • Sophomore Tanja Neyer helped the Eagles with 5 kills and a .500 hitting percentage

HOW IT HAPPENED 
Set 1

  • Campbell led the whole set with the closest Winthrop got was 6-5
  • The Camels went on a 13-7 run to make it 19-12
  • Campbell won the set 25-19

Set 2

  • Winthrop took their first lead of the match 7-6 in the set
  • Both teams fought back-and-forth until the Camels took the set 25-22

Set 3

  • Campbell took the lead at 1-0 and never looked back
  • The Camels went on a 18-11 run to force Winthrop to call a timeout
  • The Eagles tried to fight back but were unable to win as Campbell won the set 25-18

UP NEXT
The Eagles will be back in action this Friday as they travel to Lynchburg, VA to take on Liberty at 7 p.m. and then they travel to Radford on Saturday with game beginning at 4 p.m.
