Public art piece being installed at Rock Hill’s historic White Home

If you drove by the historic White Home at Elizabeth Lane and East White Street Monday, you may have seen something new outside.

A piece of art selected by the Women’s Art Initiative was selected to be planted on the White Home back in April.

Karen Derksen, who chaired the selection committee, describes the art submitted by Kathy Bruce of New York City.

“It’s an open fabricated steel structure in the form of a woman, and will be planted with local garden vegetation and things like that.”

Planting is expected to conclude Tuesday.

An official unveiling will be held October 4th at the White Home, which coincides with the 30th anniversary of Historic Rock Hill.
