Site plan for development with 89 apartment units downtown approved
The site plan for the 85,000 square-foot, four-story apartment complex that will be built at the intersection of East Main Street and Dave Lyle Boulevard won approval Tuesday night from the Rock Hill planning commission.
The building will contain 89 apartment units, but no retail space.
Jack Levinson with Lat Purser and Associates, which owns property, says interest in retail space at the already-completed apartment complex at 139 Main is lacking, despite marketing efforts.
“The interest that’s coming in on it is not at a rate per square foot that we can justify. You can’t justify a lot of square footage of commercial space in the sub-market of downtown that isn’t supporting a rate that goes with a new construction cost.”
The 108 Main project, combined with the 139 Main project, will provide about 125 apartments in downtown Rock Hill.
