ROCK HILL, SC – Winthrop freshman Lauren Proctor has been voted the Big South Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year by the league’s head coaches, it was announced today by the conference office.

In addition to Proctor’s accolades, five other Eagle players received Big South honors.  Senior Alice Garcia (Brasillia, Brazil) and sophomore Mariana Humberg (Sao Paulo, Brazil) joined Proctor on the All-Big South Singles First Team, and Humberg joined her partner, Proctor, on the All-Big South Doubles First Team.

Junior Caitlin Cridland (Perth, Australia) was selected on the All-Big South Singles Second Team and was joined by her doubles partner, freshman Megan Kauffman (Perth, Australia), on the All-Big South Doubles Second Team.  Senior Tijana Uzelac(Belgrade, Serbia) was named to the Big South All-Academic team.

Proctor (Bradenton, FL) went a perfect 9-0 in Conference singles play and 19-3 overall in her debut season. In doubles, she paired with the 2015 Big South Freshman of the Year Mariana Humberg in all but one match to compile a 15-5 overall record and 7-2 mark in conference play.  Proctor claimed two Freshman of the Week awards this season and was named the Big South Player of the Week for matches played February 1-7.
