York County voters casting ballots in six new precincts

All 95 York County polling precincts are open today — but six are open in different places for the first time.

York County’s office of Voter Registration and Elections has moved or combined six precincts effective this fall, including Edgewood, Stateline, Springdale, McConnells, Mt. Gallant and Lakewood.

“We had a few locations that told us that we could not use their facility anymore,” Voter Registration and Elections deputy director Alan Helms said. “In some cases, we improved the locations based on ADA-accessibility,” or access for people with disabilities.

The changes affect about 9,000 voters, who were issued new voter registration cards in October. Helms and his staff also erected signs at former polling stations indicating voters of the change.

  • Edgewood precinct votes at Hermon Prebyterian Church, 107 Heckle Blvd. in Rock Hill
  • Stateline precinct votes at Flint Hill Baptist Church, 269 Flint Hill Rd. in Fort Mill.
  • Springdale precinct votes at Rock Hill Fire Station No. 5, 1147 Springdale Rd. in Rock Hill.
  • McConnells precinct votes at Olivet Presbyterian Church, 159 Church St. in McConnells.
  • Mt. Gallant and Lakewood precincts have been consolidated to Dutchman Creek Middle School, 4757 Mt. Gallant Rd. in Rock Hill.
