Small businessman says periodic meetings with city are productive sessions
The City of Rock Hill is having its 21 department heads meet periodically with a group of small business owners here.
Substation II owner Charlie Ruffalo says the meetings can include wonderful discussions.
“They run the city, they don’t run a small business,” Ruffalo said.
“They have no idea what we see and what we deal with that they can control,” he added.
“Whether it’s a recycling program, a lighting issue or a utility rate, they’re willing to discuss everything.”
Ruffalo says City Manager David Vehaun and Mayor Doug Echols typically respond to the small businesses in a timely fashion.
“Any issues that are discussed, we get an e-mail within 48 hours detailing all the subjects we discussed,” he said.
Ruffalo says the e-mails will mention if something is possible, not possible or still under discussion.
