As Family Trust Federal Credit Union gets ready to open its new headquarters and branch on West White Street in Rock Hill next month, it’s showing off artwork performed by six Winthrop University graduates.

Shaun Cassidy, a professor of art at Winthrop who oversaw the work, says the former students learned that public art is unique.

“It’s not just working in a garage by themselves,” Cassidy said, “it’s interacting with people, meeting clients, meeting architects.”

“There’s a lot of interface with yourself and your community if you want to be a successful public artist,” he added.

Family Trust president and CEO Lee Gardner commissioned the work by the Winthrop students, and says it will be showcased at the headquarters September 10th for some 150 people.
