Dozens gather for appreciation event at Rock Hill’s new Fountain Park
Rock Hill’s new Fountain Park in the eastern portion of downtown was introduced to an invitation-only crowd Friday night.
Mayor Doug Echols says the park is an extremely important step in downtown’s transformation.
Echols says it adds much to the creation of downtown as a gathering place and a destination.
“I’ve often said that my hope would be that our downtown could develop into the kind of place that when people visit our community, those who were hosting them would say ‘I’ve got to show you our downtown’,” Echols said.
Comporium president and CEO Bryant Barnes says the fountain creates a wow factor unlike any other.
As for the fountain itself, it can propel water 100 feet into the air thanks to a 318-horsepower pump.
A public grand opening for Fountain Park is set for December 6th during Christmasville.
