Each August, thousands of cities and towns across the nation take part in National Night Out, a program organized through the National Association of Town Watch.

On the first Tuesday of August, communities are encouraged to take part in block parties, social events and cookouts designed to bring citizens together and take a stand for their communities.

Law enforcement officers and city officials also take part in the event in an effort to forge partnerships with the citizens they serve.
