A Lancaster man escaped the grasp of a sheriff’s deputy Saturday as he was being walked into the county’s jail.
Deqwon Blackmon, 23, was on his way into the Lancaster County Detention Center on an attempted murder charge when he “managed to escape from custody” while a deputy walking him into the jail’s sally port, officials said.
A K-9 unit, helicopter and city and state law enforcement were called to assist in the search for Blackmon, but as of 8 p.m. Friday, he had not yet been located.
“Blackmon was unarmed at the time of his escape but should be considered dangerous,” Sheriff’s office spokesman Major Matt Shaw said.
