Rock Hill-based Family Trust Federal Credit Union broke ground Tuesday on its new headquarters that will be built on West White Street near downtown.
Family Trust President and CEO Lee Gardner says he hopes the offices will be completed by the second quarter of 2015.
Gardner says he’s excited about the design of the building.
“It’s 37,000 square feet and about a $7 and a half million investment,” Gardner said.
“We’ll have a community room that we will use for community events on the first floor,” he added.
We’ll have a branch that won’t look like a traditional branch.”
Meanwhile, Family Trust also announced a $10,000 donation to York Technical College for a special program that provides fast track training for computer programmers.
Melanie Jones, York Tech’s vice president for college advancement, says they’re “looking at starting these camps for ten-week fast track learning.”
“In ten weeks they learn four different computer programming languages,” she added.
They’re employable and they’re ready to take these entry level jobs in computer programming in our region.”
Rock Hill Mayor Doug Echols also spoke during the Family Trust groundbreaking.
