Earlier this summer, WRHI was the first to report that ESPNU would be nationally televising the Northwestern vs. Byrnes high school football game on August 22. Thursday afternoon, Northwestern coach Kyle Richardson held a press conference to formally announce the details of the game.
The contest will be played at 6:05 p.m. with the gates opening at 4 p.m. Season ticket holders for Northwestern will be able to use their tickets for the game and additional single game tickets will go on sale the week of the game.
The Trojans have already started to receive preseason hype with record-breaking wide receiver Dupree Hart being named Preseason All-American and the Trojans being the top team in many statewide polls.
The Byrnes Rebels meanwhile are in their normal spot as one of the top few teams in the state making this season-opening tilt one of the best in recent history.
WRHI-FM 94.3/AM 1340 will broadcast the game with High School Football Tonight on location at District Three Stadium with pregame coverage starting at 5:30 p.m.
