In a sad update to a story we reported last week, a three-year-old Lancaster county boy has died after being left in a hot car. Logan Cox was found

by his mother in a vehicle after he apparently snuck out of the house and locked himself and the family dog in the car. The mother found him around

1:15p on Wednesday and he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. According to the mother, she was asleep for roughly 30 minutes when she

awoke and couldn’t find Logan. The dog had already died from heat exhaustion when the two were found.

The Sheriff’s office says EMS workers were already treating the child when deputies arrived on Walnut Road in Lancaster Wednesday afternoon.

Criminal investigators and the Department of Social Services say it appears the child left home without the knowledge of his mother and was playing

in the car with his dog when he became trapped. Funeral details will follow.
