donquavious_davis_140701Rock Hill murder suspect Donquavious Davis surrendered to authorities at the Moss Justice Center Tuesday.

His bond was denied Wednesday morning.

Davis, 19, is charged in the June 29 shooting death of Santorio McCoy outside a home on Baker Street Extension in Rock Hill.

Friends of McCoy said the shooting occurred because of a woman. They said McCoy was dating Davis’ former girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child.

“We were playing video games at my friend’s house,” Kadeem Cobb told WSOC-TV. “I was there and so was McCoy and his girlfriend and a couple of other people.”

Cobb said someone knocked on the door and McCoy got up to answer it.

“He (McCoy) opened the door and Davis punched him in the face, then shot him in the chest and ran away,” said Cobb. “It happened so fast. I can’t believe one minute we were playing video games and then the next he’s dead.”

Cobb said McCoy died before paramedics arrived.

“What was he thinking?” asked Lynette Mullins, who is McCoy’s mother. “Did he suffer?”

Mullins said McCoy had just started a new job at a warehouse last week. She said he also had three children, ages three, two and 10 months.
