Police in Chester are trying to figure out who shot and killed a teenage boy and left him along a major street.

Officers told WRHI’s news partner Channel 9 that the young man was 16 years old and so far they don’t have a suspect.

The shooting happened along Pinckney St. just before 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Police spent hours processing the crime scene. Investigators said a passerby found the boy lying on the side of the road.

“We’re asking that the community come together. If you know anything about this, please give us a call,” said Keisha Tobias with the Chester Police Department.

Police have not released the boy’s name.

This killing is the first murder in Chester in 2014.
