Four Winthrop Women’s Golfers Earn 2013-14 WGCA Academic All-American Honors
ROCK HILL, SC–Four members of the 2013-14 Winthrop women’s golf team have been named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars Team for their achievements in the classroom.
Winthrop women’s golf coach Jodi Wendt, a member of the WGCA, said the four players who have been honored include rising seniors Jennifer Dilger, Anna Jenkins and Rachel Wyatt, and rising junior Lucinda Walker.. A total of 664 women’s collegiate golfers from NCAA and NAIA Divisions I, II and III received this prestigious honor. To earn a spot on the team, student-athletes must have attained at least a 3.50 grade point average.
“I am so proud of these four ladies for what they have accomplished in their academic pursuits,” said Wendt. “Not only are they hard workers on the golf course, they take their studies seriously as well. They are a great credit to our women’s golf program.”
Dilger (Palmdale, CA) compiled a 3.91 GPA while majoring in exercise science while Jenkins (Rock Hill, SC) achieved a 3.52 GPA as a health care management major, and Wyatt (Blythewood, SC) had a 3.72 GPA as a sport management major. Walker (Lancashire, England) earned a 3.6 GPA while majoring in business administration.
