The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says a three-year-old boy is in critical condition suffering from heat stroke after he was found in a vehicle.

The Sheriff’s office says EMS workers were already treating the child when deputies arrived on Walnut Road in Lancaster Wednesday afternoon.

Criminal investigators and the Department of Social Services say it appears the child left home without the knowledge of his mother and was playing in the car with his dog when he became trapped.

His mother found him and called 911.
