Piedmont Medical Center earns “A” safety score

Rock Hill’s Piedmont Medical Center has earned an “A” safety score in the latest data published this spring by the Leapfrog Group in the organization’s 2014 Hospital Safety Score Guide.

Twice a year, the Leapfrog group grades more than 2,500 hospitals with an A, B, C, D or F score representing the hospital’s overall capacity to, “keep patients safe from preventable harm.”

Piedmont Medical Center is one of eight hospitals within 50 miles of Rock Hill to receive the “A” score. Three others received a “B,” three received a “C,” and one, in Union, S.C., received a “D.”

“We are thrilled to have received two ‘A’ grades from The LeapFrog Group in the last year, as we believe it recognizes our commitment to providing exceptional healthcare to our patients,” said Bill Masterton, CEO of Piedmont Medical Center. “Patient safety is a top priority for us, and we are committed to continually monitoring and improving the care we provide to York County.”

This is the second time in a row Piedmont has received the “A” grade.
