ROCK HILL, SC–Another post-season honor has been awarded to former Winthrop outfielder TJ Olesczuk as he has been named to the 2014 Rawlings/ABCA Atlantic All-Region Second Team.
Olesczuk, who was selected by the Baltimore Orioles earlier this month in the Major League Baseball Draft, had his finest year for the Eagles this past season as he hit .389 to rank second in the Big South Conference and ranked among the league’s top 10 leaders in six offensive categories.
The Cortlandt Manor, NY native who graduated in May with a degree in business administration, was a career .300 hitter, a,2014 first team All-Big South Conference performer and ,All-Academic Team selection. In addition to his batting average, Olesczuk also finished second in the conference in doubles with 18 and slugging percentage with a .556 average. The 6-1, 205-lb right handed hitter also led the Eagles in hits with 70 and runs batted in with 30.
A total of 14 players were selected to both the Atlantic All-Region First and Second Teams. Also named to the teams were Liberty second baseman Ryan Seiz and starting pitcher Trey Lambert,Campbell relief pitcher Ryan Thompson, and Charleston Southern third baseman Alex Tomasovich and outfielder Bobby Ison.
