Northwestern Trojans head coach Kyle Richardson has confirmed that the Trojans will host the Byrnes Rebels on national television to begin the 2014 season. The Trojans, who went 15-0 and won the 4A Division II state title last season, will play on ESPNU for the 2nd time in 5 seasons. Northwestern faced off against South Pointe to begin the 2010 season on the famed sports channel. The Trojans and Rebels played an overtime thrilled in Rock Hill last year, which Northwestern won 42-35. Northwestern ended the 2013 season as the 4th ranked team in the nation by USA Today, which was the highest ranking by a South Carolina team in the history of the national poll. The Rebels lost to eventual 4A Division I champ, Dutch Fork, in the semi-finals. Both teams will be debuting new quarterbacks as NW’s Mason Rudolph and Byrnes’ Shuler Bentley graduated after record breaking careers. As always the contest will be broadcast LIVE on WRHI FM 94.3/AM 1340/
