ROCK HILL, SC–Winthrop outfielder TJ Olesczuk was selected Saturday by the Baltimore Orioles in the 40th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft.
Olesczuk, a career .300 hitter,who was a,2014 first team All-Big South Conference performer and ,All-Academic Team selection from Cortlandt Manor, NY, had his finest year for the Eagles this past season as he hit .389 to rank second in the,conference and ranked among the league’s top 10 leaders in six offensive categories., He also finished second in doubles with 18 and slugging percentage with a .556 average.,In addition to his batting average and two-base hits, the 6-1, 205-lb right handed hitter led the Eagles in hits with 70 and runs batted in with 30.,

He had an outstanding year for us and he deserves this opportunity that the Baltimore organization has given him. We all hope to see TJ in the, big leagues soon .”
Olesczuk was a redshirt junior in 2014 after missing all but 12 games in 2013 with a nagging injury., He,still had one year of eligibility remaining after graduating in May with a degree in business administration, but had already,made the decision not to return.,
For his career, Olesczuk hit .324 with 200 hits, 79 RBI, 66 runs scored and 36 doubles., He played in 170 games and started 162 times in his three-plus seasons.
