Winthrop Baseball Falls to North Carolina A&T 4-1 on the Road
GREENSBORO, NC- After going down 2-0 in the third inning, the Winthrop baseball team couldn’t bounce back as they fell to North Carolina A&T 4-1 on Wednesday night. The Eagles drop to 22-27 while the Aggies improved to 17-32.
The Eagles had five pitchers make appearances but Jason Driver took the loss, giving up just two hits in two innings. The Aggies’ Cameron Jergens earned the win, giving up one run on three hits.
Brad Kaczka scored the lone run for the Eagles in the fourth inning after being walked, advancing to second on fielder’s choice and coming home on an RBI single by Kyle Edwards.
The Aggies took at 2-0 lead in the third inning, and tacked on two more in the eighth as Jenkins and Kyle Cleary scored on two RBI singles by Brandon Wilkerson and James Harris.
The Eagles return to conference play this weekend at Charleston Southern. Games are scheduled for Friday at 6:00 p.m., Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
