Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for several suspects believed to be responsible for a string of parking lot robberies in Indian Land.

Three incidents — all in the same night — resulted in the theft of three purses from women walking into various stores in the Indian Land the night of May 19.

The first was at 8:23 p.m. in the Harris Teeter parking lot in the Carolina Commons shopping center. Deputies say a white male suspect approached a female in the parking lot, demanding her purse. The suspect is believed to be between 30 and 40 years of age with brown hair and wearing an orange shirt at the time. He fled in a SUV.

Roughly an hour later, deputies say another white male nabbed a purse from a woman in the CVS/Pharmacy parking lot at 7647 Charlotte Highway. Deputies say the suspect told the victim he had a gun and fled in a dark sport utility vehicle. A witness reported a thin black male in a passenger seat in the getaway car.

A third incident, at 11 a.m. that night, ended with a thin black male grabbing a purse from a woman walking into the Walmart near the state line. Video surveillance, below, shows a dark colored SUV drive up and a thin black man grab the victim’s purse.
