The Lancaster Police Department has identified the victims in the May 3 shooting incidents that left two women in critical condition at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Dorothy Caskey, 63, of Penny Street was shot outside her home around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Caskey is the grandmother of the second victim, Jameisha Clark.

Clark, 28, of Pardue Street, was shot minutes later in the 2600 block of the Palmetto Place Apartments.

The shooter, Sammy Baskins, Jr., was Clark’s father. Baskins took his own life after investigators surrounded his home following Saturday’s shooting.

“Both victims remain hospitalized in serious, but stable condition,” Lancaster Police Captain Scott Grant said.

Grant said Baskins was scheduled to appear in General Sessions court Tuesday, answering a charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct on a minor. Baskins, Grant said, was attempting to, “locate witnesses and paperwork associated with the case,” when the shootings took place.
