Clover teen charged in school hall attack to be tried as an adult
The Clover High School freshman who York County Sheriff’s Deputies say body-slammed a fellow student Tuesday morning will be tried as an adult in court.
Arkiva “AJ Rashon” Hunter, 16, was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with attempted murder. He was released on $15,000 bond Tuesday night.
A warrant released Wednesday says Hunter picked up the 11th grade student, slammed him into a concrete floor while striking him in the head several times causing, “great bodily injury.”
The victim, whose name was not released, was transported to Carolinas Medical Center, a Level 1 trauma center in Charlotte.
Hunter was immediately suspended from school, Clover Schools spokesman Mychal Frost said. The incident was not captured on school surveillance cameras.
York County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Trent Faris said the incident was captured on several students’ cell phone cameras, but investigators have ruled out the possibility of this attack being a “slap cam” or “smack cam” video.
