Davidson, NC- The Winthrop baseball team dropped a 3-0 decision on the road against Davidson Tuesday night. Winthrop falls to 14-16 on the season while Davidson improves to 17-8.
Jason Driver took the loss for the Eagles, giving up all three runs on five hits in four innings to bring his record to 3-3. Davidson’s Clark Beeker earned the win allowing only one hit, with five other Wildcat pitchers making appearances and giving up no more than one hit each.
David Daniels started off the scoring for the Wildcats as he crossed the plate on a fielding error by the Eagles outfield after singling. Daniels followed up with a homerun in the third inning to bring himself and teammate Andrew Pope home to bring the score to 3-0.
The Eagles were held to just six hits with none of their base runners making it past second.
Winthrop will travel to Clemson tomorrow to take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
