South Carolina Treasurer Curtis Loftis said Sunday he is recovering from an “error in dosage” of his cholesterol medication over the weekend.
Loftis posted on his personal Facebook account Sunday afternoon that he was bedridden for 30 hours after taking Crestor and was feeling “like death,” though he said “things are better now.”
He later said he was “astounded” that taking a “little bit more of a beneficial med (sic) can affect me.”
By 7 p.m. Sunday, dozens of well-wishers had commented on the elected official’s post, offering their own medical advice.
Loftis, 55, was first elected to statewide office in 2010 after winning all 46 counties in a statewide primary against incumbent Converse Chellis. He announced in January he would seek a second term in office this fall.
