It’s a new era for Charlotte Knights’ baseball as they play their first season at the brand new BB&T Ballpark uptown.

The players practiced at the ballpark for the first time Tuesday.

Knights’ manager Joel Skinner says the new digs represent a first-class operation.

“Coming from where we were last year (in Fort Mill) from something that’s a little bit older to a brand new ballpark, it’s going to be that way,” Skinner said.

“But again, everything’s geared toward the players and obviously for the fans with this ballpark,” he said.

The AAA minor league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox begins its 2014 season tomorrow night in Norfolk, Virginia.

The Knights home opener is April 11th, also against Norfolk.
